Advanced Math

This class is designed to further broaden the concepts taught in the original AMC 8 class last semester. More challenging concepts in algebra, geometry, counting and number theory will be taught, with an emphasis on using these concepts to solve problems. This class is recommended for students that can get 15 problems correct on an AMC 8.

Andrew Zhao

My name is Andrew Zhao, and I am a 10th grader at Gunn High School. I am experienced in Mathcounts and AMC8 as I was part of the JLS Mathcounts team. When I was on the team, my team won 2nd in the Peninsula Chapter and 4th in Northern California. I am an AIME qualifier. I placed 11th individually at the Caltech-Harvey Mudd Math Tournament, and my team received 4th place. I am also gold level in the USA Computing Olympiad. During my free time, I like to work on challenging math problems and computer science problems.

Julia Zhao

I am Julia Zhao, an 8th-grade student at Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School. I have been enjoying solving math problems and working with other kids. It is fun to be an active part of a classroom and I look forward to helping students again. In my own time, I play badminton competitively; reading and cooking are my favorite leisure activities.
